The Regional Academies of Sport Ltd (RAS Ltd) is proud to announce a major expansion of its centralised governance model, with three additional Academies joining its collaborative framework. The Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS), Limestone Coast Academy of Sport (LCAS) and Western Sydney Academy of Sport (WSAS) now join the North Coast Academy of Sport (NCAS), Southern Sports Academy (SSA), Hunter Academy of Sport (HAS) and Central Coast Academy of Sport (CCAS) under the RAS Ltd umbrella.
This strategic integration marks a transformative moment for regional sport in regional Australia, bringing together seven Academies to form a unified organisation focused on enhancing high-performance pathways and development opportunities for young athletes across the state.
Despite the shift to a centralised model, each Academy will retain its regional identity and continue to operate locally. Offices, programs, and community engagement will remain rooted in each region, ensuring that the unique character and connection of each Academy is preserved.
The centralised structure enables RAS Ltd to streamline operations across key areas such as administration, marketing and sponsorship coordination. These efficiencies allow staff to focus more deeply on athlete development, coaching support and program delivery.
Brett O’Farrell, Chief Executive Officer of RAS Ltd, highlighted the significance of the expansion: “Welcoming Northern Inland, Limestone Coast and Western Sydney into the RAS Ltd framework is a game-changer for regional sport. This model allows us to pool resources and expertise while maintaining the local spirit that defines each Academy. It’s about building a stronger, more connected future for our athletes, coaches, and communities.”
To ensure regional voices remain central to decision-making, RAS Ltd has established a Regional Advisory Committee, providing representation and input from across all participating Academies.
Mark Calverley, Chief Operating Officer of RAS Ltd, added: “This collaboration strengthens our ability to deliver world-class programs and ensures a seamless pathway for athletes and coaches to reach their potential. Together, we’re creating a more resilient and resourceful network for regional sport.”
This expanded structure positions RAS Ltd to lead the way in regional athlete development, fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence across regional Australia. With a shared commitment to community, performance, and opportunity, the Academies are united in their goal to empower the next generation of sporting talent.
