Athlete pathways
In partnership with Tennis NSW, North West Tennis Committee and Regional Academies of Sport (RAS), and Program Partner – Inland Technology, the Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS) Tennis program includes athletes by invitation only.
Regional Academies of Sport (RAS), together with Tennis NSW has developed a pre-elite junior program that is invitation only called the RAS Future Country Stars (Tier 1) where identified athletes are included in the Future Stars program. This program is a statewide program with NIAS providing localised support to identified athletes.
The NIAS Tennis Program (Tier 2) supported by North West Tennis underpins the RAS Country Stars (Tier 1) will provide access to Performance Support services to improve athlete development with a view to:
- Identify talented athletes within the target age group, including those from under-represented groups
 - Enhance opportunities for selection into state development squads and state teams/squads
 - Reduce likelihood of injury, assessment of injury and support for return from injury
 - Increase the level of success of those athletes at competition and events
 - Increase athlete exposure to performance support, personal development and education.
NB. All athletes are selected into both Tier 1 and Tier 2 programs by invitation only.and 
Athlete benefits
NIAS Tennis Athletes will receive the following benefits:
- Regional training sessions | technical and tactical Tennis skill development
 - Access to RuralFit Training Hubs around the region for strength and conditioning training.
 - Access to a network of specialised coaches and guest coaches
 - Access to purchase NIAS merchandise pack
 - Athlete education in topics such as nutrition, sports psychology, motivation, leadership and load management, drugs in sport, media training, and social media
 - Fitness testing
 - Functional movement screening

 - Competition opportunities to represent NIAS
 
Eligibility
To be eligible for selection into the NIAS Tennis Program athletes must be identified and invited by Tennis NSW and North West Tennis Committee, based on current performance (UTR Ranking) or potential performance levels.
Regional athletes have been selected 12-18 years of age and connected to their closest Regional Academy (i.e. NIAS).
Program Costs
- Program levy includes strength and conditioning, all venue hires, education and training sessions.

Wear NIAS apparel when representing the Academy at events. - Be available to sponsors and the media for promotional purposes.
 - Adhere to NIAS Athlete Code of Conduct and policies including anti-doping policy.
 - Maintain regular communication with NIAS and coaching staff as required.
 
$220 includes: training sessions, coaching and performance support activities, and invitations to special events such as the annual Academy Awards Night.
- Academy Challenges, Academy Games and any specific Sports Tours are additional to the Athlete Levy. Costs differ from sport to sport.
 - Athlete Uniform. Uniform requirements vary from sport to sport.
