Newcastle Jets join NIAS FC selection session in Tamworth
Aspiring local athletes will rub shoulders with players from professional FC teams tomorrow, as the mighty Newcastle Jets join the NIAS FC 2022/23 selection trials at Viaduct Park, Tamworth.
nnnnThe Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS) CEO, Shona Eichorn, said this is an exclusive opportunity for athletes trialing for NIAS FC, as part of NIASu2019s partnership with the Festival of Football.
nnnnu201cTomorrow, from 5pm, NIAS athletes, coaches and volunteers will get the chance to learn from some of the countryu2019s most talented athletes, ask questions, hear industry tips and receive top-of-the-game advice! Mrs Eichorn said.
nnnnu201cNIAS is committed to investing in our athletes and providing opportunities for this region and our talented footballers and coaches. Through NIAS, we provide the support, pathways and access for athletes thrive and transition to higher levels of competition and performance.u201d
nnnnNIAS is a community-based organisation dedicated to identifying regional talent and preparing talented sportspeople within the region to reach their maximum potential, on and off the field.
nnnnNIAS programs and training also expose regional athletes to the commitment and expectations required at the next level in the sportu2019s pathway.
nnnnThe Festival of Football continues this Saturday, as the Newcastle Jetu2019s A-League Womenu2019s side play their Round Two match against the Western Sydney Wanderers at Scully Park at 3pm.
nnnnThis will be followed by an exhibition match between the Jetu2019s Menu2019s side taking on Melbourne City at 5.30pm.
nnnnNIAS athletes will have the special honour of ball boys and girls during the matches, as well as providing half-time entertainment!
