Martin Rae immerses himself in his role as the new Technical Director at NIAS

Since touching down in Tamworth on Friday, Scottish native Martin Rae has been soaking up the local soccer scene. After heading down to the Gipps Street Fields on Saturday, The new NIAS Technical Director watched the NIAS FC 13s, 14s and 15s take on South Cardiff in the their opening Premier Youth League Cup games on Sunday. Then Tuesday night was training with the NIAS FC squads.

It was supposed to be about learning more about the art of racing and getting more experience racing on different trails.
But the recently-wrapped up Auscycling XCO (cross country) mountain biking national series turned into much more than that for Jock Barwick and Ben Shaw. Both scaled the podium, with Shaw crowned the overall series champion for the under 15s boys.

The Northern Inland region is about to gain an injection of football expertise, with highly qualified Scottish football coach, Martin Rae, joining the Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS). After 12 months of strenuous negotiation and navigating immigration, Martin Rae has arrived in Tamworth from Scotland and will begin his three year tenure as Technical Director of NIAS FC, with NIAS his sponsor.
NIAS athletes head to Wagga Wagga for 2023 Academy Games

Some of the state’s finest young athletes will arrive in the Wagga Wagga Region from Friday, 21st April for the 2023 Your Local Club Academy Games. Hosted by the Southern Sports Academy (SSA), the event will be held across various venues throughout the Wagga Wagga region from Friday, April 21st to Sunday, April 23rd.
National Primary Games – 2023 Update

In 2015, NIAS initiated the mass community participation event, the National Primary Games (NPG) in Tamworth. Withstanding COVID, the event has proudly provided the opportunity for junior sports enthusiasts from across the state and country to participate in a variety of sports, in a fun weekend in Tamworth. Following the 2022 NPG, the NIAS Board voted to rest the event in 2023 in order to undertake a comprehensive operational review.
